Volkswagen Tiguan All-space India-spec model details revealed.

Volkswagen India is going to commence its second inning in India christened as India 2.0 project and under this strategy, the German car manufacturer will be launching multiple India-specific cars at competitive prices to attract the Indian Car Buyers. The first car under this project is the Upcoming Skoda Vision IN mid-size SUV (belongs to VW group), which will be followed by the Volkswagen Taigun Concept SUV. However, at the 2020 Auto Expo, the German Car manufacturer has showcased a slew of SUVs and the first one to hit the Indian shores will be the Volkswagen Tiguan All-space.

The Volkswagen Tiguan All-space is basically a successor of the current Tiguan sold in India but it will be larger in dimensions and can seat seven people, whereas the current Tiguan can seat only five at a time. The Tiguan All-space will be the flagship SUV from the German car-maker in India. It has been spied multiple times testing on the Indian roads and at the 2020 Auto Expo, the company has officially unveiled it.

The India-spec Tiguan AllSpace will come equipped with full-LED headlights with DRLs, a panoramic sunroof, a fully-digital instrument cluster, three-zone automatic climate control for the AC, beige ‘Vienna’ leather seats, keyless entry, and a touchscreen infotainment system. The Standard safety kit will include seven airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and a rear parking camera.

Volkswagen is betting on no diesel policy for India post BS6 emission norms kick-in and so the Tiguan All-space will be powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre turbo-petrol unit that produces 190 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox as standard and power will be sent to all four wheels via VW’s 4Motion system. It was previously speculated that the Tiguan All-space will also be front-wheel drive, just like the regular Tiguan but thankfully that’s not the case here.

The Volkswagen Tiguan All-space will be launched around March this year and will be brought to India as a CBU import, thus pricing will be on the expensive side. The bookings for the SUV are already open across all VW dealerships in India and the expected price of the same is around Rs 35-40 lakhs Ex-showroom and it will rival the likes of Skoda Kodiaq and Honda CR-V.
