Maruti S-Cross: Maruti has launched the facelift for its S-Cross crossover priced at INR 8.49 lakh and with the top-spec Alpha variant priced at INR 11.29 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

Tnew Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS 200 with Smart Hybrid technology to generate 90bhp of power and 200Nm of torque.

Speaking about the specifications, in terms of powertrain, the S-Cross is offering with the same Fiat-sourced, 1,248cc, turbo-diesel motor that can produce 90hp and 200Nm of peak torque, mated to a five-speed manual transmission which can send power to the front wheels. The engine now features a brake energy regeneration, Maruti’s smart hybrid system that consists of a start-stop system and uses an integrated Started Generator motor to offer a mild-torque-assist function. The previous models offered 1.6-litre diesel engine which could not be offered with an S-Cross facelift.

The other biggest changes in the exterior of the crossover are the new chrome-finished grille with vertical slats, LED daytime running lights, new headlamps featuring LED projectors on the top-spec variants and a fresh design for the bonnet and front bumper. The facelift is also getting two-tone machine-finished alloy wheels, new LED tail lamps, wider 215/60 R16 tyres (from the previous version’s 205/60 R16).

Coming to the interiors, the S-Cross has been refreshed in the interiors as the new cabin comes with a new, piano-black trim on the centre console, satin chrome accents, a new leather finish for the central arm-rest, soft-feel material on the dash, and also, there is an upgraded touchscreen infotainment system which is now compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

All the variants that are available from the base of Sigma to the top-spec Alpha come with all the safety features like dual front airbags, Isofix, ABS with EBD seat mounts at the rear.

The new Maruti S-Cross is going to rival the likes of Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Honda BR-V and Nissan’s Terrano in the Indian market.
