The company first introduced the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine in its compact SUV Hyundai Venue and people fairly appreciated it. The turbo-petrol unit producing 120PS of power became the best-selling variant of Venue. Hyundai recently introduced the same engine in its sub-compact sedan Hyundai Aura but it was a de-tuned version churning out 100PS of power. The same 100PS engine is now shared with Hyundai’s family hatchback Grand i10 Nios which will make it a preferable choice among the enthusiasts. However, it only gets it in the Sportz model, and not the toppest Asta trim.
Now, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is available with a set of 1.2L petrol and 1.2L diesel engine options producing 81PS of power with 114Nm of torque, and, 74PS of power with 190Nm of torque respectively. Both the petrol and diesel engine options come mated to a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic gearbox. The 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine, on the other hand, will produce 100PS of power with 172Nm of peak torque, mated only to a 5-speed manual gearbox, making it significantly more powerful than the standard version.
