Good days are ahead for the future of Electric Vehicles. The government of Maharashtra has decided to be good for the sake of mobility and went on announcing multiple incentives in order to promote Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the state. The Maharashtra government has announced a tax exemption on the purchases of Electric Vehicles. This exemption is part o the Faster Adoption of Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme that is aimed at adopting Electric and Hybrid vehicles.

The government has also announced a cash back policy at the end of the EV’s lifecycle with a subsidy to help in setting up charging stations for EVs. Registration fees are also exempted under the scheme for the Hybrid and the Electric Vehicles. Talking further about the scheme, the state government has announced that it will be offering a grant of up to Rs 15 lakh to the owner by the end of the Electric Vehicles’ lifecycle.
It is raining subsidies and offers from the Maharashtra government. The govt. will be providing a 25 percent of subsidy; it is up to 10 lakh for the setup of the first 250 electric charging stations all over the state. The government is also allowing EV makes to install these charging stations for fuel stations, based on the clearance from authorities. The government said it will only charge the normal and non-commercial rates at the charging stations.
The FAME scheme was started first in major cities like Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai, Thane, Aurangabad, and Nashik of Maharashtra. The Central Government has stated that in no uncertain terms, it will be pushing for the 100 percent electrification in the vehicles by the year 2030.
