India’s Second Largest Car manufacturer Hyundai Motor Company has announced that the bookings for the BS6-compliant versions of its Hyundai Venue compact-SUV, and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Hyundai i20 hatchbacks are now officially open and customers can book the same from any of the Hyundai Dealerships across India. The BS6 Hyundai Venue will even get a new diesel engine option.
The current BS4 Hyundai Venue is available with three engine options, a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine which produces 82PS of power at 6000 RPM and 115 Nm of peak torque at 4000 RPM, a 1.4-litre CRDi diesel engine which produces 89 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 220 Nm of torque at 1500 RPM, and a powerful 1.0-litre GDi turbo petrol engine which produces 118 BHP at 6000 RPM and 172 Nm of torque at 1500 RPM. The petrol engines will be made BS6-compliant, however, Hyundai will ditch the CRDi diesel and instead it will get a 1.5-litre diesel engine from Kia Seltos. It will be a tuned down version and will produce around 90 PS of power.
The current Hyundai i20 gets both diesel and petrol engine options, however, Hyundai will discontinue the oil-burner from the premium hatchback and it will be sold as a petrol-only model for a time being. The i20 will regain a diesel unit once the new generation i20 is launched in India around June this year.
The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and i20 hatchback will be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine which belts out 83 PS of power. In the Grand i10 Nios, the unit churns out 114Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, whereas in the i20, it makes 115Nm of peak torque and can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox.
