A few days ago we reported that India’s Second Largest Car manufacturer Hyundai Motor Company has announced that the bookings for the BS6-compliant versions of its Hyundai Venue compact-SUV, and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Hyundai i20 hatchbacks are now officially open and customers can book the same from any of the Hyundai Dealerships across India. We even reported that the BS6 Hyundai Venue will get a new diesel engine option and now some details about the BS6-compliant Hyundai Venue 1.5-litre oil-burner are finally out on the internet.

The current BS4 Hyundai Venue is available with three engine options, a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine which produces 82PS of power at 6000 RPM and 115 Nm of peak torque at 4000 RPM, a 1.4-litre CRDi diesel engine which produces 89 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 220 Nm of torque at 1500 RPM, and a powerful 1.0-litre GDi turbo petrol engine which produces 118 BHP at 6000 RPM and 172 Nm of torque at 1500 RPM. The petrol engines will be made BS6-compliant, however, Hyundai will ditch the CRDi diesel and instead it will borrow the 1.5-litre diesel engine from Kia Seltos. However, it will be a toned-down version and will produce slightly lesser power.

The BS6 Hyundai Venue diesel is expected to produce around100 horsepower and around 230Nm of peak torque, mated only to a 6-speed manual gearbox. There will be no automatic on offer with oi-burner. Also, rumours are saying that 1.5-diesel will ditch the VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo) and will comprise a normal turbo.

The Hyundai Venue BS6 diesel trims will get a few additional features as well. While all four E, S, SX and SX(O) trims will get AMS (Alternator Management System), the latter two will get TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) and USB charging too. However, this applies only to the DCT format of the SX trim. AMS is a new feature. Basically, it is a technology that will cut-off charging of the battery, once it is fully charged to increase battery life.
